Located in the Canterbury Plains of the South Island, our blackcurrant farms are fed by pure mountain water that runs from the region’s famous Southern Alps that sustains the rich soils of the region. Combined with the cold Canterbury winters, hot summers and powerful Southern Hemisphere ultra-violet sunlight, these natural elements strike just the right balance for growing the perfect blackcurrant from our special varieties.
These superb activating influences from the environment are at the heart of why we created CurraNZ – the clue is in the name, after all – and with great care, we have harnessed the power of arguably the most nutrient-rich, nutrient-dense berry-fruit in the world.
Picked and frozen within hours to lock in the fresh, natural goodness of these blackcurrants at their best, we then carefully freeze-dry and capture every nutritious part of the berry to create a rich extract powder. New Zealander Fleur has lived in the UK for over 20 years and before launching CurraNZ, was a sports journalist and editor on a leading national newspaper based in London.
The other half of 'Team Health Currancy', the founding company behind CurraNZ, is commercial director and mum-of-two, Nicki Bundock, MBA.
A high achiever in the aviation industry, Nicki worked for British Airways for 18 years, in sales, operations and program management, before leaving the corporate world and seizing the opportunity to move into the natural supplement market.
A Brit who lives in Surrey in the UK, Nicki and her family are actively involved in club rugby and huge sports fans.
Mike is closely involved in the New Zealand blackcurrant industry and sees first-hand the care and passion of growers and processors alike. Mike's sporting resumé reads like a textbook on a good Kiwi upbringing; rowing, rugby union and league, cricket and cycling competitively, so it's fair to say he has a passion for all sport.
