Meet the triathlete going for a record 70 'half Irons' in just over 70 days

    on June 08, 2022

70 Half Irons in just over 70 days?

Meet Andy 'Made of Stone' who is going for a new Guinness World record.

Sometimes you hear of challenges that are seemingly beyond the limits of human endurance.

However, Staffordshire's Andy Stone is over two-thirds of the way through his 70 x 70.3 challenge, having covered over 4,000 miles so far.

Every day, Andy is attacking a 1.2-mile swim, a 56km bike ride and a half marathon, come rain, hail or shine, whilst raising money for Mind, Alcohol Change UK and Humankind.

Come his final day on June 17, he will have completed 5,000 miles, the equivalent to going from London to China.

CurraNZ an essential for this challenge

Less than midway through his challenge, Andy came to us after consulting Dr Juliette Strauss from Total Endurance Nutrition for a review of his diet.

Juliette, a triathlete and senior lecturer in Exercise and Health Metabolism at Liverpool John Moores University, recommended he implement CurraNZ.

On the first day of starting CurraNZ, Andy and his wife were shocked to realise that he posted a swim AND bike PB – 34 days into his challenge!

    The documentary of Andy’s story

Documentary makers are producing Andy’s remarkable story for the Cannes Film Festival.

Just a few years ago, Andy overcome serious depression, drug and alcohol addiction, to turn his life around.

His health and exercise journey led him to triathlon – and he has set out on this world record is to emphasise the importance of ‘continuing every day’.
