CurraNZ ultra-runner nails UK's toughest race in third-fastest time ever

    on January 20, 2025

CurraNZ ambassador Kim Collison has cemented his place in ultra-running history with a stunning victory in the Winter Spine Race, finishing in the third-fastest time ever—82 hours, 36 minutes.

The 268-mile race, regarded as Britain’s most brutal, follows the Pennine Way from the Peak District to Kirk Yetholm on the English-Scottish border, in the depths of the British winter.

Despite treacherous snow and subzero conditions, Collison led from start to finish, navigating treacherous terrain and battling some of the harshest weather conditions the race has seen in years.

“It was an epic 3.5 days on the Pennine Way,” Collison said. “But held in the toughest conditions I have seen in the four attempts. I was so happy to have finally nailed the race this time.”

    CurraNZ redosing delivered the goods

We think Kim may have also the record for CurraNZ consumption over a short period too. With full knowledge of the endurance-promoting, fatigue-fighting benefits of the supplement, CurraNZ played a pivotal role in his race strategy.

Kim took 18 capsule over 82 hours of racing. He explains: "I took 3 capsules before the race and at each of the 5 checkpoints when I picked up a food bags.

"I made a conscious effort to ensure I followed the plan of using the berries throughout the race to help lower my RPE (rate of perceived exertion).

"I think CurraNZ was one of many important marginal gains which added up to help me realise this performance.

"I increased my carbohydrate intake during the first two legs of this race, took more sleep, focused on more preventative Physio work to improve my biomechanics and improved my mental skills for the inevitable hump point during the race."

"Thank you for the support with the berries. I’m very happy with my performance and the result in such tough conditions."
