BBC Radio 1 Breakfast host Greg James came out of “challenge retirement” for his wildest test yet - the 'Longest Ride' - in aid of Comic Relief’s Red Nose Day - and raised over £4m million (and counting) - the most ever raised by a Radio 1 Challenge for Red Nose Day.
The Radio 1 DJ pedalled 1,000km on a tandem bike from Weymouth to Edinburgh over eight consecutive days in March, using six capsules of CurraNZ each day.
Starting on 13 March, Greg spent up to eight hours a day in the saddle as he climbed, coasted and ground his way across England, dipped into Wales and then headed north through the Midlands to finish in Edinburgh on 20 March.
For much of it he rode solo on a two‑seater bike, with guests such as Prince William and fellow presenters dropping in to share the effort and keep morale high.

CurraNZ was proud to be part of the nutritional support, from training through to the final kilometre. Greg used our New Zealand blackcurrant extract throughout the challenge to help him cope with back‑to‑back endurance days – supporting blood flow, fuelling efficiency and day‑to‑day recovery as the kilometres stacked up.
Huge congratulations to Greg and the whole team on an extraordinary effort, turning every hard mile into life‑changing funds for people in need.
