We are thrilled to announce that the legendary Meghan Canfield, an ultra-running icon, has joined the CurraNZ family as our newest ambassador.
The revered athlete and coach has represented the USA in the World 100k
Championships for nine consecutive teams, leading the team 3 times and scoring eight times.
She was also the top-three placed American on three occasions.
After starting marathoning in her 30s and qualifying for the Olympic Marathon trials on four occasions, she picked up the ultra-running bug at 42.
Known affectionately as the 'Queen of Western States,' Meghan has completed the grueling Western States 100 Mile Endurance Run 13 times, with ten top-10 finishes, and all but one under 24 hours.
Meghan also has a special connection with New Zealand, having visited as an exchange student to Lincoln College in 1982. Described as 'one of the best life experiences' she's had, her time in New Zealand led to lifelong friendships and a deep love for the country that ensures she keeps returns regularly.
Meghan's achievements speak for themselves, and we couldn't be more excited to have her on board.
Meghan's Experience with CurraNZ
Meghan's dedication to her sport and athletes is unwavering, and she's always on the lookout for ways to enhance her performance and recovery.
Since incorporating CurraNZ into her routine, Meghan has noticed significant improvements in her recovery times and overall endurance, even during the most challenging conditions.
Here’s what she had to say: "Since starting taking CurraNZ several months ago, I've experienced quicker turnarounds in recovery—not only day to day, but actually during my runs. Instead of looking for the shortest way back to the car, I'm looking for more trail to run! CurraNZ has renewed my ambition, which doesn't come easy for an aging athlete."
Meghan also shared how CurraNZ played a crucial role during one of the most demanding ultra events: "Pacing and crewing at Badwater135 is no easy task when the temperatures reach over 45°C.
“I was able to easily manage the heat and the duration, which included running and walking 60KM without specific heat training, thanks to CurraNZ promoting the production of heat shock proteins."
Looking Forward
As Meghan continues to push herself and be an example to runners everywhere, we’re proud to support her journey.
Her passion for the sport, coupled with her commitment to coaching - and specifically middle-aged female ultra-runners, makes her a perfect fit for the CurraNZ family.
Please join us in welcoming Meghan Canfield to CurraNZ! Follow her incredible journey and be inspired by one of the true legends of the ultra-running world.
